STAT1 and infection: Here we show that the LASV isolate LF2384-NS-DIA-1 (LF2384), which was directly isolated from a serum sample of a fatal human LF case in the 2012 Sierra Leone outbreak and which has been reported to cause lethal infection in STAT1 knockout mice (8), causes uniformly lethal infection in Hartley guinea pigs and may be useful for testing vaccines and antivirals in future studies.
