Serum AFP is related to different problems; First, the rise in AFP level which occurred transiently in patients with chronic liver disease especially during exacerbation of hepatitis (serum level >100ng/mL) (low specificity) (Kobeisy et al., 2012), mild rise in acute hepatitis, chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis and overlaps can cause diagnostic difficulties. The gene discussed is AFP; the disease is chronic hepatitis.
