Therapy with beta-blockers and angiotensin-conversion enzyme (ACE) inhibitors/angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) was less frequently found in patients who developed new-onset AF and although the higher incidence of complications may have limited therapeutic options, this could suggest that renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system inhibitors and beta-blockers may have a protective role, which is in line with previous studies.1,19,20 No difference was found regarding statin therapy, unlike what was suggested in previous studies.21 Here, ACE is linked to atrial fibrillation.
