KLK3 and benign prostatic hyperplasia: Firstly, to discriminate PCa from (HCt + BPH) control individuals, PSA + miR-142-3p + miR-142-5p were included in the model (AUC: 0,914, p < 0,001) resulting in higher values for sensitivity and specificity (91,7 and 73,3%) and secondly, a model combining four variables (PSA + miR-142-3p + miR-142-5p + miR-223-3p) was useful to discriminate PCa from BPH individuals with high accuracy (AUC: 0,821, p = 0,011) and would be more suitable for clinical diagnosis: sensitivity of 91,7% and specificity of 42,9%, increasing PCa specificity of the PSA screening test.
