Mice deficient in laminin alpha 4 (LAMA4) display endothelial dysfunction, dilated vessels, hemorrhages, as well as cardiac hypertrophy progressing to heart failure due to a loss of connection between the basement membrane and actin cytoskeleton, and between the cardiomyocyte and the ECM resulting in apoptosis [108]. This evidence concerns the gene LAMA4 and endothelial dysfunction.
