Although HMGCS2 has been identified as a c-Myc target gene, which transcriptionally inhibits HMGCS2 expression in CRC cells [24], it is unlikely that c-Myc plays a role in the regulation of HMGCS2 expression by Wnt/β-catenin signaling, since either knockdown or overexpression of c-Myc has minor effects on Wnt/β-catenin-regulated HMGCS2 expression. The gene discussed is MYC; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
