A double-blinded placebo-controlled randomised trial has shown that patients with localised PCa on active surveillance who consumed a whole-food supplement containing a combination of broccoli powder, turmeric powder, pomegranate whole fruit powder and green tea extract for 6 months had a significantly lower median PSA rise (14.7%; 95% CI: 3.4%–36.7%) when compared to a placebo control (78.5%; 95% CI: 48.1%–115.5%) (p = 0.0008) [21], with PSA being one of the few biomarkers associated with risk of PCa. The gene discussed is KLK3; the disease is posterior cortical atrophy.
