It has been documented that early premalignant stages of several tumors are featured with increased levels of T/NT cells.37, 38 A study showed that tetraploid cells accumulate in the premalignant condition of Barrett's esophagus, which is interdependent of the loss of the p53 tumor suppressor but precedes the appearance of aneuploidy.39 However, HIV‐SIBCs failed to form xenograft in mice. Here, TP53 is linked to Barrett esophagus.
