Since this is of crucial importance for therapeutic anti-EGFR strategies and for understanding how EGFR-mediated processes contribute to tumorigenicity or therapy resistance, more effort is required to directly analyze the activity of EGFR or EGFR-dependent pathways in HNSCC and to establish functional assays for treatment prediction in order to enable an optimal personalized use of targeted therapeutics. Here, EGFR is linked to head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
