When compared with the contralateral hemisphere, the 6-OHDA-injected side showed intense CD68 and GFAP staining (Fig. 5b and c), which are considered as markers for pan-macrophage and microglia, and reactive astrocytes index, respectively, suggesting the high accumulation of [18F]FTPQ was associated with neuroinflammation in the brains of PD rats. This evidence concerns the gene CD68 and Parkinson disease.
