BRCA2 and cancer: Men with BRCA1 or BRCA2 pathogenic variants have a 15%‐30% risk of prostate cancer and a 2%‐6% risk of male breast cancer.4 When HBOC pathogenic variant status is known, the risk of cancer mortality can be reduced by following established management guidelines including cancer screening at younger ages or risk‐reducing mastectomy and salpingo‐oophorectomy.
