Data from our study support a previously uncharacterized role of STAT6 in glioma cell survival and suggest that epigenetic restoration of STAT6 with the aid of DNA methyltransferase inhibitors, including 5-aza-2′-deoxycytidine (decitabine), could be applied as therapy for STAT6-silenced glioma. Here, STAT6 is linked to central nervous system cancer.
