Our finding of reduced parvalbumin cell density in the pre-frontal cortex taken with other evidence implicating parvalbumin interneuron dysfunction (Enwright et al. 2016; Sohal et al. 2009; Volk et al. 2016b; Zhou et al. 2015), suggests that targeting parvalbumin interneurons may have potential as drug targets in the treatment of schizophrenia. Here, PVALB is linked to schizophrenia.
