Beyond simply being overexpressed, FAM83A expression is an unfavourable prognostic gene in lung cancers35,36, and was documented as a prognostic biomarker (together with Keratin-19, Squamous carcinoma antigen (SCCA) and other proteins) capable of identifying circulating breast and lung cancer cells that predicted for shorter patient survival time37. This evidence concerns the gene SERPINB3 and lung carcinoma.
