Taken together, all these lines of evidence lead us to hypothesize that LDGs in CKD have different origins: whereas the CD14lowCD16+ CD15+ cells are likely to be mature degranulated neutrophils, their CD14−CD16−CD15+ counterparts may represent a distinct, immature subpopulation of granulocytes prematurely released from the bone marrow.
