Briefly, ω9 and ω3 fatty acids were shown to increase glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) in the intestine, reverse insulin resistance as well as exert anti-inflammatory activities through G-protein-coupled receptor (GPR) 120 and GPR 40 pathways in liver, skeletal muscle, and adipose tissue [12].
