TP53 and cancer: IL‐11 was proposed recently as a possible new therapy for sepsis.40 Many of the top down‐regulated pathways were linked to cancer (p53 effectors, breast cancer, breast cancer pathway, transcriptional misregulation in cancer, proteoglycans in cancer, signalling by Wnt, and pathways in cancer) connecting splenectomy with cancer, a long‐term complication of this surgical procedure.41 Curiously, VEGFA‐VEGFR2 pathway was simultaneously up and down‐regulated implying a complex regulation by the differently expressed miRNAs after splenectomy.
