Due to the high cancer risks conferred by germline TP53 PVs, hereditary pan‐cancer gene panels typically include TP53. Recent work showed that apparent germline TP53 PVs were not uncommon among individuals who received hereditary cancer panel testing, accounting for 1% of germline PVs identified (Rosenthal, Bernhisel, Brown, Kidd, & Manley, 2017). This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and cancer.
