According to the cutoff points defining cardiometabolic risk previously proposed by our group [26], following bariatric surgery, patients with T2D showed an increase in the Adpn/Lep ratio from below 0.5 (indicative of a severe increase in their cardiometabolic risk) to over 1.0 (considered as normal). The gene discussed is ADIPOQ; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
