We have recently reported the effect of cholesterol lowering adeno-associated viral serotype 8 (AAV8)-mediated low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLr) gene therapy on cardiac function and remodelling in LDLr-knockout mice kept on a diet to induce marked hypercholesterolemia (0.2% (weight percentage) cholesterol 10% (volume percentage) coconut oil diet) [12]. This evidence concerns the gene VLDLR and familial hypercholesterolemia.
