TP53 and metastatic malignant neoplasm in the lymph nodes: Although they are uncommon in mPTC apparently restricted to the thyroid (43) and have not been associated with the growth or development of lymph node metastases in mPTC under active surveillance (44), this panel currently considers that the rare cases of mPTC exhibiting high-risk mutations, like in the TERT promoter or p53, are not candidates for active surveillance.
