While lowering the viral dose did not lead to a substantial reduction in the airway levels of IFN-γ and IL-6 detected 24 h following co-infection, neutralization was exceptionally efficient following the administration of the respective antibodies intraperitoneally on day 5 and to the respiratory tract on day 7 post influenza infection (Figure 6B). The gene discussed is IFNG; the disease is coinfection.
