Even though both pieces of research by Huh et al. (107) and Spicer et al. (109) have elucidated the MAC-1-ICAM-1 interaction and highlighted the significant function of neutrophils on tumor metastasis, the finding of Spicer et al. (109), is incompatible with Huh et al. (107), in that neutrophils come first to metastatic sites, and then circulating tumor cells directly adhere to the arrested neutrophils in the early step of metastasis.
