Taken together, we cannot help but speculate that ANXA1 expression may play a role in mast cell-induced inflammation and angiogenesis in breast cancer, which is a different mechanism compared to that seen in other cancers, such as colon cancer, and that may be one of the reasons why clinical trials using anti-angiogenesis therapy have failed in breast cancer. The gene discussed is ANXA1; the disease is breast carcinoma.
