ACE and diabetes mellitus: The three most common interactions were in patients with DM, mostly involving angiotensin II receptor antagonists (AT1 subtype) and diuretics used to treat hypertension, present in the drug therapy of 11.8% of patients evaluated; angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and diuretics used to treat hypertension were found in 7.6% of patients evaluated; and calcium channel blockers and statins, in 6.4% (Table 3).
