In crude models (Table 3), every unit increase in log-transformed IL-6 was associated with a 3-fold higher risk of cancer mortality (HR: 3.15, 95% CI: 2.11–4.72) and a more than 4-fold higher risk of cancer mortality comparing the 3rd vs. 1st tertile (HR: 4.41, 95% CI: 2.45–7.95). This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and cancer.
