HSPA1B and Alzheimer disease: It has been shown that HSPA1B also functions in the pathogenesis of other neurological conditions, such as Parkinson disease (Kalia et al., 2010), progressive supranuclear palsy (Hauser et al., 2005), and Alzheimer’s disease (Sherman and Goldberg, 2001; Muchowski and Wacker, 2005), presumably by facilitating protein folding and inhibiting apoptosis (Leak, 2014).
