CD36 and Stroke: With high affinity toward apoptotic cells and many ligands such as thrombospondins (TSPs), fibrillary amyloid β and oxidized lipids, CD36 has been suggested to play a pivotal role in the clearance of cell debris during the recovery phase in post-stroke brains (Cho et al., 2005; Woo et al., 2016; Stamova et al., 2018).
