UA levels showed (SUA) highly significant correlations with many of the variables in the table, associating positively with age, weight, BMI, abdominal circumference, fasting glucose, hs-CRP, triglycerides, creatinine, HbA1c, use of antihypertensive medications, the metabolic syndrome, history of previous cardiac events, worse general health and the use of thiazides, loop diuretics, ACE inhibitors and hypoglycemics.
