Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is caused by mutations in PKD1 or PKD2 gene, encoding the polycystic kidney disease protein polycystin‐1 and the transient receptor potential channel polycystin‐2 (also known as TRPP2), respectively. The gene discussed is PKD2; the disease is autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.
