Wang et al found that the local thrombin and plasmin information were closely related to tumor progression and metastases in patients with pancreatic cancer.7 This study also determined that the tumor cells could stimulate endothelial cells to release tissue factor and induce the secretion of fibrinolytic enzymes.8 The level of FIB, inflammatory factors (IL‐6), and D‐dimer were found in higher levels for those patients with metastasis. The gene discussed is IL6; the disease is familial pancreatic carcinoma.
