We recommended a close monitoring including detection of tumor markers and regular chest computed tomography examination for HCC patients with age less than 50 year old, non-white race, larger primary tumor size, higher T stage, higher N stage, elevated AFP, and presence of bone, brain and intrahepatic metastasis at initial diagnosis to help early detection of PM and to determine the therapeutic modalities earlier. The gene discussed is AFP; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
