Biomarkers of immune processes like monocyte activation (soluble CD14 [sCD14]), inflammation (interleukin-6 [IL-6]), and altered coagulation (D-dimer), are associated with increased mortality risk among people with HIV.[9, 10] Thus factors associated with elevations in these biomarkers may present important intervention targets to reduce morbidity and mortality risk associated with HIV infection. Here, IL6 is linked to HIV infectious disease.
