Human RAD51 is often overexpressed in tumors causing resistance to chemotherapeutics and increasing genomic instability that further contributes to cancer etiology [108] while RAD51 haploinsufficiency can cause congenital mirror movements (involuntary movements on one body side that mirror intentional movements on the other body side) describing a role for RAD51 in neurodevelopment [109]. The gene discussed is RAD51; the disease is cancer.
