GSK3B and Parkinson disease: In a study of Parkinson's disease, activation of GSK3β can increase the autophagy level of cells, thereby enhancing the cell's ability to degrade α‐synuclein, which is a family of proteins regulating the release of neurotransmitters, mainly expressed in the presynaptic membrane; the inhibition of GSK3β will have the opposite effect on α‐synuclein (Bingjie et al., 2017; O'Riordan et al., 2018).
