The data reported here show that OP induces apoptosis in NSCLC A549 cells through a novel mechanism involving the SOD2/O2·-/Akt/mGlo2 axis (Figure 6), thus identifying mGlo2 as a crucial protein in OP-driven apoptosis and extending the limited information available on the anticancer effect of OP in NSCLC models [8, 9]. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
