In agreement with our study, previous studies on human non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and prostate cancer cell lines, PC3 and DU145, found that DHA induced cellular apoptosis through the over-production of ROS in the mitochondria, which caused inactivation of the PI3K/Akt pathway inhibiting growth and proliferation of cancer cells [62, 63]. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is prostate carcinoma.
