Indeed, since the increase in IL-1β levels was greater in the hippocampus of HE-PSD+US rats compared HE-control (almost two-fold change), and LE-PSD+US presented a 1.5-fold increase in IL-1β compared to LE-control, we believe that the increase in plasma levels of HE-rats and not LE-rats may reflect the difference in the magnitude of the brain IL-1β changes observed between HE- and LE-rats. This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and hereditary elliptocytosis.
