Being a part of a macromolecular mechanosensory complex, it has been shown to play a role in cardiomyopathies via their interaction with genes such as MLP (muscle LIM protein), MYOZ2 (myozenin 2), ANKRD2 (ankyrin repeat domain 2), and sAnk1 (small muscle-specific ankyrin 1) [17,18,19]. This evidence concerns the gene ANKRD2 and cardiomyopathy.
