The clinical trials published by Beatty et al. and Maus et al., using mesothelin as antigen, showed a cytokine release syndrome in one mesothelioma patient resulting in adverse events (anaphylaxis, cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, disseminated intravenous coagulation) within minutes of completing the third infusion [66,67], while in pancreatic cancer patients no cytokine release syndrome and no dose-limiting toxicities, but actually stable disease in two patients were seen [68].
