MYC and cancer: Sotelo et al. [30] reported that cancer-associated single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs6983267, which regulates enhancer activity in this region, can regulate the transcription of the nearest annotated gene, the proto-oncogene MYC. Kim et al. [28] found that the SNP rs6983267 regulates the expression of CCAT1 in this region through long-range interaction with its promoter in colorectal cancer (CRC), while Wasserman et al. [29] showed that rs6983267 correlates with MYC expression in prostate cancer.
