IPA network analysis indicated that 85 of these genes are joined in a single network (Fig 6), with IFNG as the major hub gene (i.e. with most connections to other genes in the network), and other major hub genes including STAT1, SPI1, RARA, NOTCH1 and MAPK3. The top canonical pathways included pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (Table 2), consistent with interconnections between CXCL10/CXCL9/CXCL11 and major hub genes IFNG and STAT1 (Fig 6), and the Notch signalling pathway. Here, CXCL9 is linked to multiple sclerosis.
