Interestingly, in a study where 169 NSCLC patients harbored EGFR-sensitive mutations, those that had concurrent PTEN deletion showed a more dismal PFS and OS compared to those with intact PTEN. In addition, PTEN deletion and low PTEN protein expression are strong and independent predictors of worse PFS in EGFR-TKI treated NSCLC patients [101].
