Multivariate analysis showed that intraoperative transfusion (hazard ratio [HR] 3.13; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.26–7.78; P = 0.014), lymph-node metastasis (HR 7.43; 95% CI 2.83–19.54; P < 0.001), and HMGB1 high expression (HR 3.54; 95% CI 1.37–9.16; P = 0.009) were predictors of poor overall survival (Table 4). This evidence concerns the gene HMGB1 and metastatic malignant neoplasm in the lymph nodes.
