As many other oncogenes, in certain conditions SETDB1 can participate in tumor suppression: the expression of SETDB1 was significantly decreased in highly metastatic sublines of the CL1 lung cancer cell line (adenocarcinoma) [52], but at the same time SETDB1 mRNA was high in the primary tumor samples in the early stages of NSCLC compared to the advanced stages. The gene discussed is SETDB1; the disease is lung carcinoma.
