PVALB and Timothy syndrome: In Tourette patients, the involvement of striatal GABAergic neurons was indicated by a reduced number of parvalbumin-positive GABAergic interneurons in the striatum (Kataoka et al., 2010) and a decreased binding of GABA-A receptors in postmortem brains of TS patients (Lerner et al., 2012), which was also associated with a reduced level of brain GABA.
