In 1997, Blom et al. asked whether they could find a similar inverse association in UM, and studied paraffin sections from 30 UM, where they measured HLA-A, HLA-B and c-myc expression by immunohistochemistry [40]: a low level of HLA-B was significantly correlated to a high level of c-myc expression in the cytoplasm (p = 0.03), which was similar to the findings that had been reported regarding cutaneous melanoma. This evidence concerns the gene MYC and cutaneous melanoma.
