The recruited eosinophils in the present study may have also contributed to angiogenesis, as they store several proangiogenic mediators, including VEGF, FGF-2, GM-CSF, IL-8, and osteopontin, in their granules (33, 34), and their presence is critical to angiogenesis in mouse models of eosinophilic esophagitis (35). Here, CSF2 is linked to eosinophilic esophagitis.
