Equally macrophages in AAA, predominantly derived from circulating monocytes [47] have been shown to play a role in early AAA processes, particularly through the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor- α (TNF- α), and interferon- γ (IFN- γ) [48], which have been studied for their use as biomarkers for AAA [49].
