Nineteen percent (5/26) of obese children in this study developed simple obesity with no abnormalities in blood data, 58% (15/26) developed hypercholesterolemia (LDL-CHO ≥ 140 mg/dL), 19% (5/26) developed hypertriglyceridemia (TG ≥ 120 mg/dL), 8% (2/26) developed hypoHDLemia (HDL-CHO < 40 mg/dL), 19% (5/26) developed hyperuricemia (UA ≥ 6 mg/dL), 35% (9/26) developed impaired glucose tolerance (HOMA-R ≥ 2.5), and 27% (7/26) developed liver damage (ALT > 30 IU/L).
